It’s actually pretty easy to test your site and see what’s slowing it down.
Just enter your website’s URL on the Pingdom Website Speed Test page. It’s free!
The results of my speed test look pretty good. My load time is faster than most, but there is still room for improvement.
Scroll past the initial Summary and you’ll see a lot of really good intel.
Here, it tells me I should “Remove query strings from static resources” and should also “Leverage browser caching”.
Even if you don’t know what any of this stuff means, it’s good information to forward to your website manager.
I also see that my “reCaptcha” plugin is taking a long time to load, so I might want to reconsider having a contact form with reCaptcha on my front page.
If you would like some help figuring out what your results mean, just click the “Share Result” button at the top of the test page and email your report to me – firstname.lastname@example.org or use my contact form, here.
